Barbara Vivian (Burdette) Adams

Barbara Vivian Burdette Adams, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister left this world at age 77 to join her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 2, 2015. She was a long time resident of Rockcastle County and called Mt. Vernon her home for 53 years.  Barbara fell in love with the rolling farmland and beautiful sunsets of Brindle Ridge where she made a loving home with her husband Wayne for 58 years.  They raised five children:  Debby, Lance, Michelle, Rodger and Seth.  Barbara served the Lord joyfully and was a Charter Member of Copper Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

As a caring wife and mother, she enjoyed nothing more than creating memories with her friends and family as an avid “fisherwoman”, cook, candy maker and flower gardener.  She loved to spoil her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike and was a mother to all who entered her home.

Barbara is survived by her husband: Monroe Wayne Adams, Mt. Vernon, Ky.; one daughter:  Debby Adams Bowles and husband Ricky of Mt. Vernon; sons: Bobby Lance Adams and wife Debra of Quail; Rodger Adams of Mt. Vernon, Ky. and Michael Seth Adams and wife Tashia of Mt. Vernon.  She is also survived by grandsons Joshua Bowles and wife Jennifer; Jeremy Adams and wife Kelsey, Jonas Adams, Jason Woodall and wife Valerie; grand-daughters:  Karah Bowles Short and husband Adam,Tabitha Doan and Talia Woodall.   Five great-grandchildren also survive:  Jaydon Bowles, Kaitlyn Adams, Grayson Bowles, VivieAnn Short and Isabella Bowles.  Barbara also enjoyed a very special and loving relationship with her niece, Lavada Adams.

Barbara is also survived by three brothers:  Vernon Burdette, Mt. Vernon; Glynn Burdette and wife Jerri, Mt. Vernon; Edward Burdette and wife Linda of Quail as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.  She was preceded in death by one daughter: Michelle, her parents: L. C. and Edna Burdette;  two brothers:  L. C. Burdette Jr. and Terry Lee Burdette.

The family will receive visitors Monday, October 5, 2015 from 6-9 pm and from 10 am until time of service Tuesday, October 6, 2015  at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel.   A Celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1 pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel with Bro.  Eldon Hayes and Bro. Randal Adams officiating.   Burial will follow in the Saylor Cemetery.

Casket Bearers are: Josh Bowles, Jeremy Adams, Jonas Adams, Seth Adams, Blake Saylor and Matt Dekauwe.
