David Bishop

Mr. David Francis Bishop, age 78, of Brodhead, KY. passed away Monday August 8th, 2016, at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Bishop was born July 30th, 1938 to the late James and Elizabeth (Singleton) Bishop in Brodhead, KY. On May 28th, 1957 he was united in holy matrimony to Barbra Ellen Lake from that union came four children: Marilyn, Shannon, Christopher and Deborah. He was of the Holiness faith; owned Bishop Sporting Goods; enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and spending time with his family.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife, of 59 years, Barbra Ellen Bishop; three children: Marilyn (Chris) Reddington of Mount Vernon, KY., Shannon David (Angie) Bishop of Brodhead, KY. and Christopher Morrse (Sabrina) Bishop of Mount Vernon KY.; son-in-law: Mark Cummins of Mount Vernon, KY.;  nine grandchildren: Jan Ivan Stevens III, Shaunna (Jonathan) Saylor, Emily Reddington, Jessica Cummins, Dustin (Meagan) Bishop, Crystal (Bjorn) Nelson, John David Reddington, Dakota Bishop and Will Bishop; three great grandchildren: Colson Stevens, Chloe Stevens and Vivienne Saylor; five brothers: Delray (Janet) Bishop of Loveland, OH., Alvin (Louis) Bishop of Crab Orchard, KY., Marion (Laura) Bishop of MI., Bobby Bishop of Brodhead, KY., Ernie Bishop of Brodhead, KY. and Doug (Janet) Bishop of Brodhead, KY.; brother-in-law: Raymond Asher of Brodhead, KY.; three sisters: Wanda (Bob) Barnette of Loveland, OH., Deloris (Gary) Burns of Brodhead, KY. and Genealia Asher of Brodhead, KY.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by a daughter: Deborah Elizabeth Cummins; three sisters: Nellie Asher, Levada Rice and Verda Bishop and two sister-in-law’s: Margie Bishop and Flossie Bishop.

Visitation for Mr. Bishop will be held Thursday August 11th, 2016 from 6pm-9pm and Friday from 11am to the funeral time of 1:30pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Bro. Bruce Ross, Shannon Bishop and Doug Bishop will be officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Cemetery. In honor of David an entourage of vintage vehicles will escort him to Cresthaven Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Dakota Bishop, Will Bishop, John David Reddington, Jay Stevens, Dustin Bishop and Colson Stevens.
