Donald Hopkins

Mr. Donald Idon Hopkins, age 83, of Mount Vernon, KY. passed away Monday August 8th, 2016 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born on November 21st, 1932 in Fall Lick, KY. to the late Ewell and Emma (Maupin) Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a child of God of the Christian faith; he proudly served his country in the United States Army; he was a truck driver, carpenter and farmer by trade; he enjoyed fishing, gardening, working, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to celebrate the life of Mr. Hopkins are: his daughter Regina (Danny) Hamm of Brodhead, KY.; two grandchildren: Jessie (Emily) Hamm of Brodhead, KY. and Rachel (Clayton) Thornton of Madisonville, KY.; two great grandchildren: Charlie Thornton and Elizabeth Thornton; three sisters: Gladys Graham of Indianapolis, IN., Wanda Rollinson of Clearwater, FL. and Mary Lena Craven of Clearwater, FL.; as well as a host of many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents Mr. Hopkins is also preceded in death by his wife Bethada Norton Hopkins; his daughter Louella Hopkins; his brothers Ernest, Hershel, Charles and Eugene Hopkins; and his sisters Beatrice Sparks, Goldie Miller and Alice King.

Visitation for Mr. Hopkins will be Wednesday August 10th, 2016 from 6pm – 9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday August 11th, 2016 at 1pm with Bro. Bobby Bradley officiating. Burial will be at the Ottawa Cemetery.
