Edith Marie (Roberts) Lunsford

Mrs. Edith M. (Roberts) Lunsford, age 84 of Brodhead, departed this life on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky.

She was born on January 27, 1932 in Brodhead, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Thomas Greene and Annie Mae Barnett Roberts.  She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who was a member of Union Chapel Pentecostal Church. She found great joy in flowers, gardening, cooking, quilting, caregiving and charitable works; also teaching Sunday school. And was loved by all that knew her.

On December 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Raymond Lunsford, who preceded her in death on November 30, 1997. They enjoyed forty seven years together, and from that union came five children: Tommy, Donald Estill, Mark, Jeanie and Sandy.

Those left to celebrate her life are her children: Tommy (Donna) Lunsford, Donald Estill Lunsford, Mark  (Teresa) Lunsford, and Jeanie (Ray) Gabbard all of Brodhead, Ky. and Sandy (Harold) Whitaker of Mt. Vernon, Ky. Grandchildren: Steven  Lunsford, Matthew (Hillary) Whitaker, Benjamin (Starla) Whitaker, Adrienne (Steve) Moberly, Brienne Gabbard Vanwinkle, Jessica Lynne Lunsford, Emily (Chuck) Bullock and McKenzi Lunsford. Twelve great  grandchildren: Zachary, Alyssa and Deanna Lunsford, Jagger Renner, Chelsea Smith, Conner & Keely VanWinkle,Sophie Bullock, and Jackson Whitaker. Step great grandchildren: Cameron, Caleb and Chloe Bullock.  One Brother:  Rob Roberts of Mt. Vernon, Ky; One Sister: Ada Roberts of Brodhead, Ky; As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson: Donnie Lee Lunsford; brothers: Bill, Ernest, Cecil and Wayne Roberts; sisters: Hazel Whitaker, Juanita Lunsford and Bertha Southard.

Visitation for Mrs. Edith Lunsford will be Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 starting at 5PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals AND Thurs. April 7th, 2016 from 10AM-1PM at Union Chapel Pentecostal Church.

Funeral services will conducted Thursday, April 7th, 2016 at 1PM at Union Chapel Pentecostal Church with Bro. Troy Roberts officiating; burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
