Ernest L. Hopkins, 86 of Crab Orchard, husband of Anna Mae, passed away Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 19th, 1930 to the late William “Bill” & Rosie (Brock) Hopkins in Harlan, KY. On November 16th, 1955 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Anna Mae Wardlow and from that union came Dwight, Barry, Mac, Randall, Dennis, Mark, Kevin and Jayme. He was an Army veteran. Ernest was a member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church and enjoyed horses and mules.
Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife of 61 years, Anna Mae Hopkins; his children Dwight B. (Kim) Hopkins of Waynesburg, KY., Barry K. (Norma) Hopkins of Crab Orchard, KY., Mac W. Hopkins of Crab Orchard, KY., Randall Hopkins of Crab Orchard, KY., Dennis W. (Rona) Hopkins of Crab Orchard, KY., Mark A. (Susan) Hopkins of Crab Orchard, KY., G. Kevin (Connie) Hopkins of Waynesburg, KY., and Jayme E. Hopkins of Danville, KY.; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; his sister Shirley Turner of Crab Orchard, KY.; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by: his son Marvin L. Hopkins; his brothers John, Robert “June”, Zach, Henry & Jessie Hopkins; his sisters Marlie &Pearlie; and his grandson Samuel Hopkins.
Visitation for Ernest Hopkins will be held on Friday, March 31st, 2017 from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at 2pm at the funeral home with Bro. Luther Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Crab Orchard Cemetery with Military Rites.
