Glen Sowder

Glen Sowder, 91 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital. He was born on March 3rd, 1926 the son of the late John Turner & Rosa (Renner) Sowder in Brodhead, KY. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII obtaining the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer. On November 23rd, 1946 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Cora A. Bullock and from that union came one son, Lonnie Sowder. Glen worked for 35 years retiring from Formica Corp. He was also a member of the Ashland Ave. Baptist Church of Norwood, OH.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his loving wife of 70 years, Cora Sowder; his son, Lonnie (Barbara) Sowder of Union, KY.; his grandsons, Jason (Kelly) Sowder of Union, KY. & Brian (Meredith) Sowder of Fairfield, OH.; his great-grandsons, Logan Sowder of Union, KY. & Turner Sowder of Fairfield, OH.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Glen was preceded in death by 6 sisters.

Visitation for Glen Sowder will be held on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 from 11am-1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel with funeral services following at 1pm with Jeremy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
