HARRIS BURTON

Mr. Harris W. Burton, age 84, of Brodhead, husband of Wanda, passed away Friday, August 11th, 2017 at the Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Berea, KY., with family by his side. He was born on April 13th, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, KY., to the late George Jr. & Vallie (Griffin) Burton. On December 22nd, 1951 he was united in Holy Matrimony to his loving wife Wanda Burdette and from that union came two children, Stan & Kenny. Mr. & Mrs. Burton had enjoyed 65 years together. He was a farmer by trade and had also worked for the John Deere Company in Richmond and Hymer Ford in Berea. Mr. Harris was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed horses. He was a member of the Gator Gang and the Rockcastle County Saddle Club.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife Wanda Burton of Brodhead, KY; his children Stan (Sherrie) Burton of Ohio & Kenny (Brenda) Burton of Alabama; his grandchildren Penny (Doug) Nichols of Texas, Erik Burton of Texas & Travis (Lindsay) Burton of Brodhead, KY; several great-grandchildren; his sister Mattie (Danny) Petrey of Somerset, KY; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his brother Bennett Burton & his sister Barbara Anglin.

Visitation for Mr. Harris will be held on Sunday, August 13th, 2017 from 6PM-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, August 14th, 2017 at 12PM at the funeral home with a visitation being held prior to the service at 10AM. Bro. Mark Eaton will be officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Shannon Franklin, Danny Ford, Jonathan Shell, Danny Petrey, Randall Curry & Travis Burton.
