Mr. Dee James Cummins, age 86, affectionately known as “Jimbo”, of Brodhead passed away, Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the Danville Center for Health & Rehabilitation.
He was born on August 20, 1929 at Mullins Station in Withers, Ky., a son of the late Money Troit and Nell Gray Mink Cummins. He had been a heavy equipment operator, having worked for Smith-Coal Co., Ruby Construction Co. and L& N Railroad Company. He operated a Loader, and was very fond of all types of heavy equipment. His hobbies and interest include fishing, motorcycles, and “big boys toys”. Had been a third degree Mason #731 F&AM of Livingston, Ky., being inducted in 1953.
“Jimbo” will be lovingly remembered by his brothers: Money Ed Cummins of Crab Orchard, Ky; Garlan Cummins and wife Rachel of Brodhead, Ky; his sisters: Vivian Louise Saylor and husband William of Lexington, Ky; Elsie Virginia Taylor of Nicholasville, Ky; Lula Marie Strahm of Horseshoe, North Carolina; Ruby Jo Lubarsky and her husband Joe of Louisville, Ky; Sister-in-law, Ina Cummins of Crab Orchard, Ky; as well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Henry Cummins and wife Pauline; and Vernon Cummins; his sister: Linda O. Cummins and Nancy K. Dallaire; brother-in-law: Dale Strahm; and sister-in-law: Bernice Halcomb Cummins; nephews: Stewart Cummins and Mike Saylor.
Visitation for Mr. Dee James Cummins will be Sat. November 28th, 2015 from 5-8PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday November 29th, 2015 at 2PM, at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Jack Stallsworth officiating; burial will follow in Fairview Mullins Station Cemetery at Mullins Station.
