Karen Kay King

Ms. Karen Kay King, age 64 of Mt. Vernon, departed this life on Wed. November 29, 2017 at home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on July 10, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of the late Leroy Mason Brown and Virginia Faye Cash Brown.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon, and the Kiwanis Club. She had previously served the City of Mt. Vernon as Mayor. Karen will best be remembered as a having her own Tax accounting Business where she assisted many people. She found great joy in gardening, reading and games. 

Those left to celebrate her life are her children: David Lynn King II and his wife, Wendy Michelle of Mt. Vernon, Ky; Talona King Rogers and her husband Kevin of Richmond, Virginia. Her grandchildren: Carson David King, Addalyn Elizabeth King, Beckett Rogers, Paxtyn Rogers, Knox Rogers and Mercy Rogers. Her brothers: Michael Mason Brown and wife Patricia of Brodhead, Ky; and Gregory Allen Brown and wife Nicole Lynn of Russell Springs, Ky; her sister: Sharon Faye Brown of Brodhead, Ky; and special friends: Holly & Mick McGuire and Precia Bowling.

Visitation for Ms. Karen King will be held on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Ky and on Friday, December 1st, 2017 from 11am until the time of service.

Funeral services will be conducted 1pm on Friday, December 1st, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Rogers officiating.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Care Plus, 208 Kidd Dr. Berea, KY. 40403.
