Marvin C Ponder

Mr. Marvin C. Ponder (Mutt), age 82, husband of Edith, passed away Friday, November 25th, 2016, at Laurel Heights with family by his side. He was born on Janurary 21st, 1934, in Brodhead, KY., to the late William Arthur & Mossie (Saylor) Ponder. On November 12th, 1958, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Edith Lear and from that union came six children: Steve, Ben, Kelly, Kris, Regina and Marita. Marvin served in the United States Navy. He was a farmer, a school bus driver for Rockcastle County for 24 years and he worked for Taylors Produce for 11 years. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church and a member of the Gideons.  Marvin enjoyed fishing, coon hunting and traveling.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife of 58 years, Edith (Lear) Ponder; his children: Marita (Gene) Gray of Sand Gap, KY., Steve (Jamie) Ponder of Mt. Vernon, KY., Ben (Kelly Lynn) Ponder of Mt. Vernon, KY., Marvin Kelly (Judy) Ponder of Mt. Vernon, KY., Martin Kris Ponder of Mt. Vernon, KY., and Regina Bell of Mt. Vernon, KY.; grandchildren: Joshua, Jenna, Rebekah, Andrew, Hannah, Lane, Cass, Elisabeth, Shelby, Sarah, Emily, Lindsey, Brandi, Landon and Jaylon;  great grandchildren: Braxton, Cayson, Avery, Emmalyn and Paisley; as well as a host of many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents Marvin was preceded in death by his biological brother Elmer Ponder; his half-brothers Roy & Chester Wilson; sisters Irene Windstead, Ada Todd and Thelma Parsons and half-sister Delores Johnson.

Visitation for Mr. Marvin Ponder will be held Sunday, November 27th, 2016, from 6pm-9pm at the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, November 28th, 2016 at 1pm at the church with Bro. Randal Adams & Bro. Don Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery.
