Mrs. Odabe Phillips, age 80, of Mt. Vernon KY, departed this life Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.
Odabe Phillips entered into this life August 22, 1935 in Livingston KY. the daughter of the late George M. and Ida May Milburn Jones. She was a homemaker who was of the Baptist faith. She found great joy in cooking, gardening, flowers and traveling. On January 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to William Ellis Phillips and from that union came five children.
She is survived by children: Delores McWhorter of Mt. Vernon, KY.; Dale Phillips (Jeanetta) of White Lick, KY; Lola Wright (Chuck Hubbard) of Berea, KY.; William Albert Phillips (Anna) of Richmond, KY.; James Earl Phillips (Connie Gadd) of Berea, KY. Her brother: Billy (Anna) Jones of Livingston, KY.; her sisters: Mary Moore of Mt. Vernon, KY.; Ruth Setser of Mt. Vernon, KY; Gracie Jones of Orlando, KY; and Phyllis ( Tracy “Hoss”) Sowder of Mt. Vernon, KY.; Numerous grandchildren and step grandchildren. Numerous great-great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ellis Phillips; her parents, George M. and Ida May Milburn Jones; her brother, Lawrence Jones.
Visitation for Mrs. Odabe Phillips will be Thursday, February 4th, 2016 from 11am-2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
Funeral services will follow at 2PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel with Bro. James Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in the Leger Cemetery at Conway, KY.
