Paul Edmund Hering, Jr., age 72, of Mt. Vernon, Ky. passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 20, 1943, a son of the late Dr. Paul Edmund Hering Sr. and Lois Reed. He was a butcher by trade having worked several years in Indiana and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as a medical corpsman. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and attending the Rockcastle Adult Day Center.
Mr. Hering is survived by his children: Jennifer Calder (Mike) of Mt. Vernon, Ky., Christy Richardson (Russell) of Emlyn, Ky. and Paul Edmund Hering III of Mt. Hebron, Ky.; his grandchildren: Matthew (Mercedez) Burkhart, Zachary (Bridgett) Burkhart, B.A. (Kacey) Burkhart, Josh (Deanna) Richardson, Lindsey Brooke Richardson, Olivia Hering, Elizabeth Hering, David Hering, Dougie Hering and Sadie Paige Hering; his great-grandchildren: Lexi Burkart, Cooper Burkhart, Jaxon “Tank” Burkhart, Madison Burkhart, Emma Grace Richardson, Alyrica Dillingham, Harley Floyd, Jeffrey Floyd and Kaylee Strunk. Also surviving are a host of friends and neighbors and beloved special friends Sandra Witt, Brenda Cable, Asbil Gentry, Becky Bradley, Michelle Burris and Janice Vanzant.
Visitation for Mr. Paul Hering will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 11:00 AM until funeral at 2:00 PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel with Bro. Raymond Offutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery.
Casket bearers are : Matthew Burkhart, Zachary Burkhart, B. A. Burkhart, Burley Burkhart, Josh Richardson and Paul Hering III.
Honorary casket bearers are: Asbil Gentry, David Hering and Dougie Hering.
