Mr. Tommie Falin age 99 ¾, of Orlando, Kentucky, departed this life November 1st, 2015 at Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Facility.
Tommie entered this life February 24th, 1916 the son of the late Martin and Maggie Wyrick Falin. He was a member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon and Usher for several years. Tommie was a Powder man for the Kentucky Stone Company; and had worked for the Blue Grass Army Depot for several years as an Ammunition handler; the Mullins Station and Mt. Vernon Quarries; cut right of way for phone company and highway department. He served his country in the US Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, loved hummingbirds, dogs and animals of all kinds. He especially enjoyed navigating Pam on recent drives around the county. Tommie will be remembered for sitting on the porch and waving to everyone that passed by. He was a loving and devoted husband, father & grandfather.
On May 2, 1942 he married Maxine Chesnut, and they shared 49 years together prior to her passing in 1991.
Those left to celebrate his life are his two children: Robert (Mary Jane) Falin of Florence, Kentucky, and Pamela (Rick) Leger of Richmond, Kentucky, five grandchildren: Kenneth Dwight Falin, Kristie Falin Bustle (Danny), John Kevin Falin, Chantel Leger- Creekmore (Cody) and Shane Heath Leger. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors, include his buddy Tyler Howard. A special cousin, Gladys Mason and special friends, Bud and Jennie Shelburne.
Besides his parents: Martin and Maggie Falin, Tommie was preceded in death by his wife: Maxine Chesnut Falin, one son: Johnny Keith Falin; six brothers: Alva, Henry, Elmer, Orbin, Ed, Infant brother Michael and four sisters: Grace Hurd, Carrie Allen, Mae Falin, and Infant sister Pearlie E Falin.
Funeral services for Tommie Falin will be conducted Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church at 1PM with Bro. Jack Stallsworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation for Tommie Falin will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church, and also Thursday November 5, 2015 from 10AM until the funeral at 1PM.
