Wanda Maxine (Lawrence) Smith

Wanda Maxine  Smith, age 82, of Brodhead, Ky., widow of Luther Smith, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016.  She was born in Brodhead, Ky. on April 20, 1933, a daughter of the late Herbert Lawrence and Mae Brumett Lawrence. She attended and was a member of  Ottawa Baptist Church since her teenage years. Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress for Rockcastle Manufacturing. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for everyone. She especially enjoyed her grand-children and great-grandchildren. Most of all she will be remembered for the great love she had for her family.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her children:  Gary Smith, Ronnie Smith (Louise) and Darlene Cromer (Bill) all of Brodhead, Ky. and Judy Childress (Benny) and Debbie Smith (Rodger) all of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; her grand-children:  Rhonda Childress (Jerry), Jason (Kristin) Childress, Shawn Childress, Crystal Childress, Vanessa Burnell (Chris), Rebecca Smith, Tiffany Wallin (Eric), Brittany Smith, Samantha Smith and Dustin Smith; her great-grandchildren: Adrienne, Emily, Morgan, Johnathon, Jordan, Collin, Gage, Jace, Tom, Paisley, Marley and Connor. Also surviving are her brothers: Eugene, Bobby, Jackie and Charles Lawrence and her sister: Evaline Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Smith, whom she married September 17, 1948; her brothers: Richard Lawrence and Herbert Ray Lawrence ; her sister, Margie Blanton and her son , Phillip Smith.

Visitation for Wanda Maxine Smith will be Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 6-9 pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2 pm at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jim Craig and Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ottawa Cemetery.

Casket bearers are Jason Childress, Shawn Childress, Chris Burnell, Johnathon Cromer, Dustin Smith and Eric Wallin.
