Mr. William R. Pumphrey, age 75 of Stanford, Ky., passed away Friday, January 5th, 2018 at the Stanford Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Stanford, Ky.
He was born on October 14, 1942, the son of the late Cecil and Virgie Jones Pumphrey. He was a member of Union City Christian Church and found great joy in fishing, hunting, gardening and taking pictures. He was united in marriage to Lucy (Travillian) Pumphrey on May 25, 1975 and they enjoyed forty two years together, prior to her passing in 2017. William had been a long time employee of UPS as well as working for the Southern Railroad.
Those left to celebrate his life are his children: Oscar Shannon Pumphrey, Crickette Lynn Pumphrey and Veronica Jo Lee ; his step-sons: Donnie Lunsford and Randy Lunsford; His sister: Patricia Lynn Pumphrey; Grandchildren: Shannon, Brandon Keith and Daniel Kent Pumphrey, Jason Kole Sexton, Joshua Clayton Souders, Bethany Shyanne Routshue and Jennifer Sexton; Great grandchildren: Axel & Slash Souders; as well as a host of friends and neighbors. Besides his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by sons, Jackson Willard Pumphrey (infant) and Brian Keith Pumphrey.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 1PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Arthur Hunt officiating; burial will follow in Bales Cemetery, Livingston, Ky. Family will receive friends from 11AM until the funeral hour at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead, Ky.
