William (Bill) Medford Melcher

William (Bill) Medford Melcher left this earth to be with the Lord on Monday, February 8th, 2016 due to natural causes. He was 81 years old.  Bill Melcher was born on October 22, 1934.  He was born to Woodrow Melcher and Erlean Atkins Melcher.

He leaves behind a loving wife of 62 years, Lena Marie Baker Melcher, a brother-Johnny B. Melcher and his wife Shirley Melcher, a nephew and two nieces.  He also leaves behind children whom he adopted in his heart-Alvin and Donna Pigg and grandchildren-Donovan Pigg and his wife Terra Pigg, and Erica Pigg.  He also has a host of great loving friends that he leaves behind. Three sister-in-law’s, Frances Carter, Ellen Dailey, and Joann Baker.  Brother-in-law, Johnny Ray Baker and wife Ruth.  And a host of nieces/nephews.

Bill Melcher worked at Rockcastle County School Systems as a janitor and as a bus driver; he also worked at J.C. Penny’s in Chicago, Illinois, Parsons Gas in Rockcastle County, Deboard Oil in Rockcastle County and the Army Depot in Richmond, Ky.  He was a member of the Brodhead Baptist Church for thirty years.  Bill loved the Lord with all his heart and the Lord has blessed him all the years of his life.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and mowing his yard as well as church.  

Visitation for Bill will be Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 from 5Pm-8PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at 2PM with Bro. Don Jones and Bro. Wayne Harding officiating.  Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
