Bill Belcher

OBITUARY NOTICE:

Bill Belcher (William Ray Belcher), age 66, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Bill was a Christian (a member of Brodhead Baptist Church), a devoted husband, and a much-loved brother and uncle to those he held dear.

Bill was born on January 4, 1958, in Stanford, KY.  He grew up in Brodhead on West Street.  He attended Brodhead Grade and High School, played basketball as a Brodhead Tiger, and graduated from Rockcastle County High School where he played basketball as a Rockcastle County Rocket.  He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University.  He was employed by Interstate Coal Company, T.M. Reagan Consultants of Lexington, and retired from the State of Kentucky as an Inspector for the Department of Environmental Protection and served on the State Environment Response Team.

Bill is survived by his wife, Molly Hamm Belcher and sisters Mary Lynn (Kenneth) Stevens, Karen Reynolds, and a beloved nephew Greg Reynolds and wife Elizabeth  along with nephews Scotty Stevens and Chad Brock;  nieces Sharon Stevens and Stephanie Reynolds.  Bill is also survived by his in-law family who loved and respected him- his sisters-in-law Betty Lou Adams and Lois Hamm; nephews Shawn, Kevin, Greg, John, Steve, and Courtney.  He will be missed by these along with friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Lucille (Owens) Belcher, and a sister Joan Belcher Brock and his brother-in-law, Gene Reynolds. Bill has chosen cremation.  A public celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2pm at  Maretburg Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Smith and John McQueary officiating;  a meal to follow.  Memorial donations to be made to the Shelby Reynolds Ministry Scholarship.
