Mrs. Alphia McClure, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at her residence.
She was born August 15, 1937 in Christian Co., Kentucky, a daughter of the late Dewey Stanton Monk and Freda Fern Bozell Monk. She had been an employee of Cowden Manufacturing. Alphia was a member of Church of Christ and attended Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ. She found great enjoyment in fishing and gardening, especially flowers.
Those left to celebrate her life are: her children: Sandra Lee Bradley (Boyd) of Mt. Vernon, Ky; and Jo Ann Sallee (Ronnie) of Danville, Ky. Her grandchildren: Crystal Michelle Faulkner, Brandie Jo Hampton, and Travis Edward Van Pelt. Her great grandchildren: Brett Shane and Connor Chase Noble; Ethan Slade Faulkner, Carlie Raeann Carrier, Hadley Grace Van Pelt and Brynlee Tyler McMullin. Her sisters: Mary Hays of Maretburg, Ky. and Bonnie Sue Prestholt of Clear Lake, IA. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friend and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McClure. Her brothers: Carlos, Donald, Paul, Roger and Leroy Monk. Her sisters: Joyce Moore and Barbara McGinnis.
Visitation for Mrs. Alphia McClure will be Sunday, November 17, 2019 , from 6-9PM, with Funeral services conducted Monday, November 18, 2019 at 12 Noon at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Eugene Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in the Lovell Cemetery. Contributions in her name may be made to the up keep of Lovell Cemetery.
