Barbara Ellen (Lake) Bishop

Barbara Ellen (Lake) Bishop, age 74 of Brodhead, began her new life on Thursday, August 17th, 2017, at the Rockcastle Hospital with family by her side. She was born on June 11th, 1943 to the late Luther & Elizabeth Ellen (Brock) Lake in Rockcastle County. On May 28th, 1957 she was united in Holy Matrimony to David Bishop and from that union came Deborah, Marilyn, Shannon & Christopher. She and David enjoyed 59 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 8th, 2016. Barbara was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Crossroads Assembly of God. She took great enjoyment in gardening, taking care of others and most of all; she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a leading member of the Rocky Top Knob Gathering Association. Barbara was a devoted wife, a caring mother, a loving grandmother and an amazing sister & aunt and a wonderful friend.   

Those left to cherish her memory are: her children, Shannon David (Angie) Bishop of Brodhead, KY, Marilyn Sherie (Chris) Reddington & Christopher Morrse (Sabrina) Bishop both of Mt. Vernon, KY; her son-in-law Mark Cummins of Mt. Vernon, KY; her grandchildren, Jan Eyvan Stevens III, Shaunna Stevens, Emily Reddington, Jessica Cummins, Dustin Bishop, Crystal Nelson, John David Reddington, Dakota Bishop & Will Bishop; her great-grandchildren Vivienne Saylor, Hudson Wade Bishop, Coleson & Chloe Stevens; her brother Jack Lake of Brodhead, KY; her sister Patty (Kenneth Allen) Whirls of West Chester, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Elizabeth Cummins; her brothers Warren, George & Ben Lake; and her sisters Geneva Lake & Juanita Linville.

Visitation for Barbara will be held from 6PM-9PM on Monday, August 21st, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral Services will be conducted 12PM on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 at the funeral home with Bro. Bruce Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be Dustin Bishop, John David Reddington, Jay Stevens, Coleson Stevens, Dakota Bishop & Will Bishop.

Honorary Casket Bearer will be Hudson Wade Bishop.
