Bro. James Arvil McKinney

Bro. James Arvil McKinney, 75 of Mt. Vernon, KY., died at 3:00pm on Monday June 5th, 2017 at his home.

Arvil loved hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and being with his family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith, also a Missionary Baptist Preacher for about 32 years.

He was the loving husband of Elizabeth Irene (Bullock) McKinney of 54 years. They were united in Holy Matrimony on August 6th, 1963 and from that union came 5 children: Donna Bowling, Denita (Kevin) Bullock, Jimmy (Lisa) McKinney, Johnny McKinney and Jason McKinney, all of Mt. Vernon, KY. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arvil was the son of the late Clyde Russell McKinney and Jennie Mae (McClure) McKinney. He was the brother of: Brenda Abbott (and the late Joel Abbott) and Barbara Evans (and the late Marion Evans) both of Somerset, KY.; and Larry Dale McKinney of Eubank, KY.

Besides his parents, Arvil was preceded in death by several Aunts and Uncles.

Visitation for Arvil will be held from 6PM-9PM on Thursday, June 8th, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals and again from 10AM-1PM on Friday, June 9th, 2017 at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1PM on Friday with Bro. Eugene Gentry & Bro. Zandal Hasty officiating. Burial will follow in Popular Grove Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Matt Bullock, Steven McKinney, Tim McKinney, Josh McKinney, and Jacob McKinney.
