Edward M Baker

Mr. Edward M. Baker, age 90 of Mt. Vernon, husband of Christine, passed away Monday, January 1st, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on September 30th, 1927 to the late George Washington & Hazel (Miller) Baker in Brush Creek, KY. He had proudly served his country in the United States Army and had worked for Interlake Steel in Newport, KY for 30 years. On August 30th, 2001 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Christine Shepherd and they had enjoyed 16 years together prior to his passing. Edward was a member of the Brush Creek Holiness Church and he enjoyed fishing, antiques and was an avid UK Basketball fan.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife Christine Baker of Mt. Vernon, KY; his children Kimberly (Greg) Poynter of Orlando, KY, Beverly Jo (Johnny) Hoskins of Berry, KY, Gary Lynn (Loraine) Baker of Columbia, TN & Dennis Wayne (Brenda) Baker of California, KY; his grandchildren Erica (Bill) Beeker, Kristina (Kelly) Robinson, Patric Lowery, Brittany Hoskins, Greg Baker, Jimmy Dan (Elissa) Baker, Tracie (Jared) White & Sonja (Bobby) Morgan; 11 great grandchildren; brothers Frank (Jerry) Baker & Jack (Juanita) Baker both of Dayton, OH; sister Beatrice Hensley (George) Robinson of Fairfield, OH; as well as many friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Ursula Evelyn (McNew) Baker; and his brothers Jude, Floyd, Robert, Lee Duncan & Shannon Duncan Baker.

Funeral service for Edward will be held 1PM on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at the Brush Creek Holiness Church with Bro. Lonnie McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Briarfield Cemetery.

The Family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 form 6PM-9PM and also on Thursday from 11AM until the funeral hour.

Casket Bearers will be Chris, Eric & Jeff McGuire; Patric Lowery, Greg & Jimmy Dan Baker.
