Evelyn Powers

Mrs. Grace Evelyn Powers, age 79 of Crab Orchard, widow of Carvis, passed away Friday, July 28th, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on December 5th, 1937 to the late James Washington & Mealy Ellen (Brock) Smith in Ottawa, KY. On August 28th 1954 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Carvis Powers and from that union came Michael, Steve, Christopher, Karen, & Amy. They had enjoyed 45 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1999. She was of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching hummingbirds and embroidering.   

Those left to celebrate her life are: her children Michael (Kathy) Powers of Cincinnati, OH., Steve (Connie) Powers of Mason, OH., Christopher (Christi) Powers of Cincinnati, OH., Karen Powers of Crab Orchard, KY., & Amy (Jason) Baker of Crab Orchard, KY.; her grandchildren Chad (Jen), Brittney, Sean, Elizabeth, James, Katie, Mason, Evan, Ben, Eliana, Max, Samantha, & Nikki; her great-grandchildren Ellery, Judah, Alexander & Leora; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Earl, Luther & Owen Smith; and her sisters Bernice Williams, S.J. Thompson, & Mildred Jean Hoskins.

Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Sunday, July 30th, 2017 from 6-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 1PM on Monday, July 31st, 2017 at the funeral home with a visitation prior from 10AM-1PM. Bro. Shelby Reynolds will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Ottawa Cemetery.

Casket Bearers are Chad & James Powers, Clint Powers, Mark Brown, B.J. Thompson and Tim Smith.

Honorary Casket Bearers are Jimmy Hoskins, Mason McGee, Evan & Ben Powers and Max Baker.

Donations may be made in memory of Evelyn to the American Cancer Society and Hospice.
