Francis Brummett

Francis Brummett, 91 of Crab Orchard, departed this life Monday, October 9th, 2017 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on March 12th, 1926 to the late Nathan & Sally Ann (Bishop) Brummett in Brodhead, KY. On April 15th, 1946 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Rovena Johnson and from that union came Danny, Francis Wayne, Kathy, Ricky, Jennifer, Timothy, Karen & Gary. They had enjoyed 63 years of marriage prior to her passing on December 12th, 2009. He had owned and operated the Brummett Apple Orchard in Crab Orchard for 50 years. He had attended West Brodhead Church of God in Brodhead, KY. He took great enjoyment in working on his farm, in his orchard and talking with customers. He was also a charter founder of the Farmers Market in Lexington, KY.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his children Kathy Widmeyer of Independence, KY, Jennifer (Bill) Lewis of Somerset, KY, Karen (Garry) Wheeldon of Bowling Green, KY, Danny Brummett, Francis Wayne Brummett, Ricky Lane (Judy) Brummett, Timothy Clay (Judy) Brummett & Gary Gordon (Lori) Brummett all of Crab Orchard, KY; thirty grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his brother Dale Brummett of Crab Orchard, KY; his sister Mary (Brummett) Coffey of Arlington, OH; as well as a host of friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his children: Sue, Pansy & Ginger Brummett; three grandchildren; his brothers Denver, Donald, Bobby, Shelby, Dempsey and Bernard Brummett; and sisters Edna Middleton, Geneva Delaney & Myrtle Helton.

Visitation for Francis will be held on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 from 6-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM on Friday, October 13th, 2017 at the funeral home with Bro. Terry Orcutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Negro Creek Cemetery.

Casket Bearers are: Arlie Francis Whitaker, Bryan Whitaker, Marty Brummett, Jason Wheeldon, Christ Wheeldon, and Nathan Brummett.

Honorary Pallbearers are Eric Wheeldon and Justin Wheeldon.
