James "Willard" Nicely

Mr. James “Willard” Nicely, age 85 of Brodhead, passed away Friday, October 20th, 2017 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Facility.

He was born on December 8, 1931 in Maretburg, Ky., the son of the late Ben and Pearl Cromer Nicely.  He had been a farmer and was a milk hauler for 12 years. Willard was a member of the Church of Christ. He found great joy in car shows, gardening, country music and most of all, he enjoyed people.  April 1974 he married Edith Albright Brown, and they enjoyed 35years together prior to her passing Sept. 10, 2009.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his sister, Doris Blanton of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; his stepchildren Edward Baker Brown of Ohio, Doris Jean Brown of Mt. Vernon, Ky., Lorene (Bobby) Lawrence, Garner (Mary Ann) Brown, and Raymond (Brenda) Brown all of Brodhead, Ky.;  as well as a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.   

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Willie, Walter Jr., Robert and Edd Nicely; sisters, Geneva James, Ora Meredith, and Dora James.

Visitation for Willard will be held from 5-8PM on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral services will be conducted 2PM on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 at the funeral home with Bro. Joe Hill and Bro. Anthony Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Maretburg Cemetery.
