Joe M Bussell

Mr. Joe Mont Bussell, age 91 of Brodhead, passed away Tuesday, August 15th, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born on July 23rd, 1926 in Brodhead, KY to the late William Arch & Lula Mae (Moore) Bussell. Joe  retired after 52 years with Union 18 Ohio Department of Operational Engineers and was a World War II veteran, South Pacific, having served his country in the Army as a Corporal for 28 years and. He was actively involved in law enforcement serving for 21 years and in most recent years served as a Rockcastle County Constable. He was a member of the Brodhead Baptist Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed mowing and most of all protecting and assisting the citizens of Brodhead as their police officer.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his children Danny Joe (Linda) Bussell of Las Vegas, Nevada & Deborah June (Wayne) of Brodhead, KY; his twelve grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his brother Jack Bussell of Brodhead, KY; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Mae Bussell; his child Gerald “Jerry” Clayton Bussell; his brother Dealva Bussell; and his sisters Martha Messer, Janet Velasquez, Geraldine Glass & Laverne Lykins and a grandchild.

Visitation for Joe will be held from 6PM-9PM on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

The Funeral Service will be conducted 2PM on Sunday, August 20th, 2017 at the funeral home Bro. Don Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
