John Baker

Mr. John Baker, age 79 of Brodhead, departed this life on Friday, December 8th, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 11th, 1938 to the late Chester & Katherine (Wilson) Baker in Manchester, KY. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as an SPC 5. He retired from Duncan Machine and was also a carpenter. John found great joy in hunting, fishing, trading knives & guns and woodworking.  

Those left to celebrate Johns life are: his children Donna (Charles) Turner of Stanton, KY & Sonda (Jerry Ketcham) Baker of Barbourville, KY; his grandchildren Sarah McKaig, Charlie & Taryn Gay; his great grandchildren Gavin Sapp & Waylon Murphy; his sisters Helen Allen & Dorothy Cooper of Frankfort, KY; as well as many friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Helen Baker; his brothers Al, Arnold & Tom Baker; and his sister Odie Gilbert.

Funeral Services for John will be conducted 2PM on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Tracy Valentine officiating. Burial will be in Negro Creek Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral on Wednesday from 11AM until the funeral hour.

Casket Bearers will be Bud Lucia, Jerry Ketcham, Charles Turner, Charles Gay, Gary Baker & Doug Baker.

Honorary Bearers will be Chester Robbins & Howard Baker.
