Jones Oscar Hamm

Mr. Jones Oscar Hamm, 83 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital. He was born on August 11th, 1933, to the late Pleasant Harris & Ruby Margaret (Hiatt) Hamm in Rockcastle County KY. On January 14th, 1956, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Sarah Faye Hunt and from that union came Jones Kevin Hamm. Mr. Hamm served in the United States Army as a Specialist 3rd Class and he had retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. He was a member and Deacon of the Maretburg Baptist Church and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his son, Jones Kevin (Linda) Hamm of Brodhead, KY.; his grandchildren, Jarrett Kevin (Mallory) Hamm and Jeriah Konner Hamm,and Emily Roark all  of Brodhead, KY.; his sister, Betty Lou (Johnny W.) Adams and Mary “Molly” Batey (Bill) Belcher, both of Mt. Vernon, KY.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

 Besides his parents, Mr. Hamm was preceded in death by: his wife of 60 years, Sarah Faye Hamm; and his brothers, Eddie Ray Hamm and Bennett Harris Hamm.

Visitation for Jones Oscar Hamm will be held from 11AM-1PM on Friday, June 23rd, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM on Friday at the funeral home with Bro. Wayne Harding officiating. Burial will follow in Sayers Cemetery.
