Mrs. Lela “Lil” Kay Griffin, age 69, of Livingston, wife of J.C., passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Saint Joseph – London.
Lil was born on February 24, 1950 in Oneida, KY, to the late Robert and Cora (Potter) Peters. She married Raymond “J.C.” Griffin on June 8, 1969, and from that union came two daughters: Lisa Faye Blackburn and Sherry Ann Newcomb. She was of the Pentecostal Faith, and enjoyed her grandchildren. Lil will be remembered as the owner operator of Lil’s restaurant in Livingston for many years.
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband of 50 years, J.C. Griffin of Livingston, KY; her daughters: Lisa Faye (David) Blackburn of Livingston, KY, Sherry Ann (James) Newcomb of Livingston, KY; six grandchildren: Jordan Blackburn, Jessica Miller, James Matthew Newcomb, Caitlyn Campbell, Andrew Newcomb, and Carley Newcomb; three great-grandchildren: Brent Miller, Jasey Bowles, and Aiden Miller; one brother: Johnny (Kay) Peters of Grey Hawk, KY; two sisters: Linda (Gary) Gabbard of Grey Hawk, KY, and Jean (Wilburn) Coffey of Grey Hawk, KY.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter, Jack, and Robbie Peters.
Visitation for Lil Griffin will be Friday, January 10, 2020 from 6-9pm, and Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 12-2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Raleigh Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.
