Mrs. Margaret “Jeanne” Black Mathews, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington.
Margaret was born in Eind, Oklahoma , on August 6, 1947, a daughter of the late Melvin Joe Black, and Effie Elizabeth Sears. She was of the Catholic faith, and she enjoyed spending time with her fur babies: Oppie, Sophia, and Black Lightening, and gardening.
Those left to celebrate her life are her children: Elizabeth Jean Thrasher of TN, Ginger Gale Deshazer of KS, Pepper Dale Habben of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Faith Creekmore and Eric of Somerset, KY; two brothers: Martin James and Marion John Black; two sisters: Melissa McCoy and Melba Black; as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a special friend Lola Swinney and Family of Mt. Vernon, KY.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Carlos Brown, and a son-in-law David Clay Spires.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
