Mary Perry Obituary

Mrs. Mary Pauline (Riddle) Perry, age 93, widow of Rolla, of Quail, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.


She was born on November 3, 1924, in Cumberland, Ky., a daughter of the late Crit and Stella Eldridge Riddle.  She was a long time member of Ottawa Baptist Church and WMU. She found great joy in Sunday School, crafts, sewing, gardening and the Christmas Plays at church.  She was a loving and devoted Christian who taught us about love, caring and compassion. She had a great love for the children of Ottawa Baptist Church, directing the Sunbeam Children group until she was almost 90 years young. On September 25, 1945 she was united in marriage to Rolla Perry, and they enjoyed 57 years together prior to his passing on Feb. 2, 2002.

Those left to celebrate her life are: her daughter:  Shirley Jean Scharp & Ed of Ypsilanti, Mich. Her grandchildren: Steve, Keith, Lisa, Jennifer, Mary Ann, Debbie, Randy and Robin. Her twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  Her brother: Billy Paul Riddle & Laverne of Brodhead, Ky. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her children: Phyllis Mary Smith (Doug Smith); Rolla Roy Perry (Cantania). Her grandchild: Elmer. Her siblings: Hubert, Cleon, and Homer Riddle, Ruth Eldridge, Martha Gibson and Alice Riddle.

Visitation for Mrs.Mary Perry will be Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 from 6-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals and Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 from 11AM-1PM at Ottawa Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at 1PM at Ottawa Baptist Church with Bro. Vestal Meece officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ottawa Cemetery.
