Money Ed Cummins

March 12, 1928 ~ July 21, 2019 (age 91)

Mr. Money Ed Cummins, age 91, of Brodhead, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Baptist Health Hospital, in Louisville, Ky.

He was born on March 12, 1928 in Withers, Ky., a son of the late Money Troit and Nell Gray Mink Cummins.  Money was a member and deacon at Flat Rock Baptist Church, and member of Livingston Lodge F&AM 731.  He served the people of Rockcastle County as their County Judge (1958-1961); State Representative (1962-1963) and Circuit Court Clerk (1963-1982). Money found great joy in politics and farming.  He likewise enjoyed the years he was employed by the L&N Railroad at Dana Corporation.  Money was married to Bernice Holcomb Cummins who preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2004.

Those left to celebrate his life are his step-children: Sylvia Waddle and husband Terry of Shepherdsville, Ky. and Lewis Dale Holcomb and wife Pamela of Louisville, Ky. His brother: Garlan Cummins and wife Rachel of Brodhead, Ky.; His sisters: Lula Strahm of Hendersonville, N.C. and Ruby Jo Lubarsky and husband Joe of Louisville, Ky. His sister-in-law: Ina Cummins of Crab Orchard, Ky. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, four step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, three step great-great grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers: Vernon “Poss” Cummins, Dee James Cummins and Henry Fortner Cummins; sisters: Vivian Louise Saylor, Elsie Taylor, Nancy Dellaire and Linda Cummins; sister-in-law: Pauline Waddles; brothers-in-law: Dale Strahm and Bill Saylor; nephews: Michael Saylor and Stewart Cummins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Flat Rock Baptist Church or Hospice Care Plus.

All services for Mr. Money Ed Cummins will be at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead, KY.  Visitation for Mr. Money Ed Cummins will be Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm with the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Bros. Greg Burton and Burford Parkerson officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Mullins Station Cemetery.
