Robert Sargent Obituary

Mr. Robert Phillips Sargent, age 85 of Brodhead, KY. passed away Thursday, March 29th, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on March 19, 1933 on Copper Creek, Ky., a son of the late Cecil and Jessie Marie Leece Sargent.  He was of the Pentecostal faith, and was a retiree of Blue Grass Army Depot. He served his country in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He found great joy in fishing, arrowhead and Indian artifacts collecting and was an avid mushroom hunter. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, Cold War Patriots and was a KY. Colonel.  On December 1, 1953 he was united in holy matrimony to Gernice Chrystal Neal, and from that union came three children: Marcia Joy, Denise Gay, and Dee Ann.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 64 years, Gernice Sargent of Connersville, IN; his children: Marcia Joy Book and husband Jeffrey of East Bernstadt, KY; Denise Gay Garza of Richmond, KY; and Dee Ann Miller and husband James of San Antonio, TX.  His grandchildren:  Shannon and Nikita Book, Shellie Roberts, Stephanie Garza and Austin Miller.  His brothers: Joe Clyde Sargent of Maretburg, KY; Raymond Leslie Sargent and wife Kaye of Brindle Ridge, Ky.  As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Paul Douglas Sargent and Infant Charles Lee Sargent; his sister: Melberta Whittemore.

Visitation for Mr. Robert Sargent will be Saturday, March 31st, 2018 from 6-9 P.M. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 1st, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals Chapel with Bros. Randal Adams and Buford Parkerson officiating.  Burial will follow in Saylor Cemetery.
