Mr. Sherman Adam Hill, age 80, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his home.
Sherman was born May 15, 1939 in Weymouth, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Murray Lawson Hill and Lucy Thurser Brittain. He married Mary Powell Hill on July 12, 1969. Sherman was a Baptist Minister for 20 years, and taught at North Point Training Center for 27 years, was a member of Grace Baptist Church, enjoyed cameras, guns, running, and his grandkids; was a member of the NRA and the Kentucky Teacher’s Association.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Hill; his daughter: Charon Ketron Katherine Hill (Shannon) Burton of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren: Shanlee (Josh) Childress of Mt. Vernon, Andrew Lawson Burton of Mt. Vernon, and Lauren (Luke) VonLinger of Stanford, KY; two great-grandchildren: Alex Childress, and Lily Childress; and four sisters: Gladys Amero, Dixie Amero, Rosalita (Keith) Amero, and Lorene Comeau, all of Nova Scotia, Canada; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Charles, Eldon, Kenneth, Glenn, Hector, and “Chink” Hill; and two infant brothers.
Services for Mr. Sherman Adam Hill will be conducted on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals where friends may call from 10am until time for the funeral service at 12pm with Bro. Raymond Offutt officiating. Casketbears are: Shannon Burton, Andrew Burton, Luke VonLinger, Josh Childress, Bill Fowler, Paul Burton, Josh McNew, and Billy Fowler.
