Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor, 74, of Brodhead, joined her beloved husband, Larry, at their heavenly home on May 28, 2026.

Ann was born on March 13, 1952 in Berea, the daughter of Doris Jean Albright Gentry and William (Bill) Murrell Gentry. She graduated from Brodhead High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from Eastern Kentucky University in 1974. She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years.

On August 8, 1977, Ann married the love of her life, Larry Wayne Taylor. From that union came two children, an infant daughter and their son, Benjamin Joseph Taylor, and over 36 years of marriage.

Ann was a cheerleader throughout high school, was a lifeguard, and played numerous sports. After graduating from EKU, she thought of becoming a navy nurse or working at a VA hospital in Hawaii, but her heart called her home. She was a nurse at Sowder Nursing Home, eventually becoming the director of nursing. Later, she was a nurse at Hospice Care Plus, where she was instrumental in planning their inpatient center and retired as patient care coordinator. Ann was a member of the Brodhead Baptist Church.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, and keeping flowers and succulents. She had an expansive collection of Longaberger baskets and treasured her family heirlooms. Ann was a makeup and jewelry afficionado. She was an avid viewer of cooking and travel programs—especially in her later years, as they let her soul travel when her body no longer could.

Those left to honor Ann are her mother, Jean Gentry, and her aunt, Kathleen (Teet) Stevens; her son, Ben, and his fiancé, Marlane; her brother, Gary Gentry, and his girlfriend, Darlene; a very special nephew, Zachary Gentry; her brothers-in-law, Harold Taylor and Ricky Kirby; and her sister-in-law, Sherry Asher.

Two special friends were always by Ann’s side. Connie Moore provided care and compassion, and David Whitt watched over Ann for many years.

Ann was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her beloved Larry; her father, Bill; her uncle, Don Stevens; her aunt, Patricia Josephine (Tooter) Albright; her parents-in-law, Edwin Joseph (E. J.) and Roberta Taylor; and her sister-in-law, Patty Kirby.

Ann’s family requests donations in her honor to the Brodhead Volunteer Fire Department.
