Barry Lee McClure

Mr. Barry Lee McClure, age 62, of Mt. Vernon KY, husband of Janet, passed away Thursday February 13, 2020, at UK Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.

Barry was born on March 12, 1957 in Anchorage, Alaska to Fred Lee McClure and the late Lorene Owens McClure.  As a young teenager, he began working in construction with his grandfather and throughout his life he built many churches, banks, and homes for and with many friends and families throughout the community of Rockcastle County.  He attended Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon, KY. He married Janet Bussell on October 31, 1976, and from that union came three children:  Mickey, Dusty, and Tiffany.  His hobbies included vegetable gardening, canning, and watching his beloved Wildcats and Reds; pitching horseshoes where he won many tournaments throughout the state of Kentucky; but his greatest joy was following his kids and grandkids playing sports for many years. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years:  Janet (Bussell) McClure; his children:  Mickey L. McClure of Mt. Vernon, Dustin E. (Kim) McClure of Mt. Vernon, and Tiffany J. McClure of Louisville, KY; his pride-and-joy- his grandchildren:  Chayse McClure, Addison McClure, Maddux McClure, Greyson McClure; his father:  Fred Lee McClure; two sisters:  Beverlee Lynne (Roger) McGuire of Mt. Vernon, KY, Cheryl Layne McClure of Mt. Vernon, KY; his uncle:  Junior Owens, his lifelong friend:  Joe Deatherage; many nieces, nephews, work crews over the years, horseshoe pitching partners, and running around buddies. 

He was preceded in death by his mother:  Lorene (Owens) McClure and his grandparents:  Amos “Poppa” and Bessie Owens.

Visitation for Barry will be Monday, February 17, 2020 from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 1pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bros. Ova Baker and Dale McNew officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Tommy Bussell, Lee Deatherage, Chris McHargue, Brandon Falin, Mike Bussell, Chayse McClure, Maddux McClure, Greyson McClure, and Devon Bussell.
