Benjamin Travis Ponder

Benjamin Travis Ponder, age 46, of Mt. Vernon, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, September 5th, surrounded by family and friends, after an exhausting struggle with cancer.

He was born on September 15th, 1976, to Marvin Clifford (Mutt) and Edith Ponder. He was united in marriage to Kelly Lynn Farthing on December 29, 2001.  They welcomed their only child, Jaylon Hope, on July 9th, 2002.  This child was his greatest treasure in this life. He also took great pleasure in spending time with family and friends and working on his farm.  Ben worked as a carpenter most of his life and enjoyed the work.  His last place of employment, with Hacker Brothers Construction as superintendent, though for only a short time, proved to be the most gratifying job of his life. He was a member of Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church, where he enjoyed worship and fellowship with his church family.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Kelly Lynn Farthing Ponder , his  daughter, Jaylon Hope Ponder Bullen, and her husband Dylan Bullen. His mother, Edith Ponder.  His brothers, Marvin Kelly Ponder and wife Judy, Stephen Lane Ponder and wife Jamie, and Martin Kris Ponder.  His sisters, Regina Lee Ponder Bell and her deceased husband Ralph Bell, and Marita Jane Ponder Gray, and her husband Gene Gray.

His nieces and nephews include Josh Bell, Jenna Bell Ingram and her husband, Tyler Ingram, Rebekah Ponder Jayne and her husband Cory Jayne, Andrew Ponder, Hannah, Lane, Cass, and Elisabeth Ponder, Lindsey Gray Rader and her husband Elmer, Brandi and Landon Gray, Shelby, Sarah and Emily Ponder, Evan and Ella Powell, James Stacy ,and wife Brittney, and Amanda Blanton.

His great nieces and nephews include Braxton and Cayson Bell, Eva Jaymes Rader, Avery, Paisley, Emmalyn, and Joelle Ingram, Dana Stacy, Jayce Bowles, and Bailey Vanwinkle.

 Casketbearers will be: Kelly, Steve, and Kris Ponder, Brent Gabbard, Jimmy Osborne and Gene Gray.
