OBITUARY NOTICE:
On July 24, 1929, a little curly haired red head was born to John and Carrie Adams Lovings. They named her Bernice. She joined the family which included sisters Pauline and Dorothy. Later the girls joined by a little brother, Lonnie Harold. Bernice grew up on Brindle Ridge, attending the Oak Hill School and Union Chapel Church, where she came to know Jesus as her Savior. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Her first job was at the Brodhead Creamery.
On March 12, 1948, Bernice married a neighbor boy, Edward Sowder, Jr. Bernice would spend the early years of marriage following Junior to New York and Texas as he completed his tour in the Army. In February, 1954, a son Billy Dean, was added to the family, and in December 1961, a daughter, Tracie Annette, was born.
Bernice and Jr. had a Dairy for 31 years and continued to farm up until recent years. Bernice took great pride in her children and grandchildren, Craig, Cassie and Ellie Sowder. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because the kids and grandkids got to have their favorite foods together that day.
On September 17, 2023, at age of 94, Bernice’s faith became sight as she entered Heavens gates at 8:45AM. She was met there by her loved ones, Parents, John & Carrie, Sisters, Pauline and Dorothy, an infant baby brother, John and special friends, Ralph and Jerri Whittis, and Terri Stewart.
Those left to cherish her legacy are her husband, children, grandchildren, and brother Lonnie (Barb) Lovings. Brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws. A host of nephews and nieces, and of course the neighbors and friends.
