Betty Bernice Northern

Mrs. Betty Bernice Northern, age 83 of Mt Vernon, departed this life on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt Vernon, Ky.

She was born on March 12th, 1941, in Mt Vernon, Ky., a daughter of the late Gracie Alcorn Higgins. She attended Blue Lick Baptist Church, she was a loving wife and devoted  mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed working in her flower beds, Canning, and U.K. Basketball, she especially enjoyed visiting with friends and family.

Those left to celebrate Bernice’s life are her children; Charles Edward Northern (Donna) of Mt Vernon, Randy Lee Northern (Joan) of Berea, Johnny Ray Northern (Jennifer Lynn) of Mt Vernon. Her grandchildren; Jessica Taylor (Matthew), Lisa Northern, Matthew Northern (Katie), Amanda Bentley (Carl), Angela Northern (Travis), Her great grandchildren; Jaziley Lamb, Aaliyah Bentley, Tate Northern, Eli Bentley, Levi Northern, Alexis Taylor, John Luke Northern, Tristyn Davis, her brothers; Ernest Alcorn, Darrell Alcorn, As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents and her husband, Charles Northern, she was preceded in death by brothers: Estill, Jimmy, Ray, and Virgil Alcorn.  

Visitation for Mrs. Bernice will be Wednesday, January 8th, from 12-2pm at Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, Funeral services following at 2PM with Bro. Glenn Whittemore officiating. A burial will follow in Singleton cemetery.
