Betty Lou York, “Country Comedy’s Favorite Girlfriend” was called home to be with the lord on the 26th of February 2025 at St. Joseph Main hospital in Lexington KY.
Betty was born in Williamsburg KY; however, relocated with the family to Richmond, IN at the age of two. She resided there, attending public school where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart George York.
Betty and George moved to Carlisle, OH in 1964. They lived happily there, growing their family with two sons, George Stephen York and James Scott York. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Carlisle school system for many years before her comedic talents were discovered at the local Lions Club talent fundraiser.

She was a hit, resulting in her and George making Mt.Vernon, KY their home. Betty Lou spent 26 years performing at Renfro Valley, bringing joy and laughter to many people from all over the US.
Those left to celebrate her life, her husband of 66 years George Z. York. Her children George Stephen York (Miamisburg OH.) and James Scott (Francie) York (Mt.Vernon KY). Four Grandchildren Elisha (Matt) York, Jessica York and Madison York (all of Mt. Vernon); Brennan Moore.
