Bobby Alfred Proctor

Mr. Bobby Alfred Proctor, age 87, loving husband of Clara, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home in Brodhead, KY.

Bobby was born December 27, 1931 in Ottawa, KY to the late Wallace E. Proctor and the late Novara Hasty Proctor.  He married Clara Caudill on December 20, 1951, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Proctor started his career in Banking at Citizens Bank in Brodhead, KY in 1956.  He became the President of Citizens Bank in 1979 and retired 18 years later in 1997, but remained on as a Director of the bank until his passing. He served as Mayor of Brodhead twice for a total of 17 years.  During his time as the Mayor, Mr. Proctor was instrumental in setting up the Water Plant for the City of Brodhead.  Along with Preston Parrett, Johnny Wilcop, David Cash, and Lawson Witt, Mayor Proctor was able to acquire the first fire engine for the City of Brodhead in 1972.  Bobby was an active member of the Bethel Church of Christ in Crab Orchard, KY, where he lead singing and taught Bible classes, and was a member of the Lions Club for 57 years.  He enjoyed bowling and traveling and was an avid UK fan.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Mrs. Clara Proctor, his children:  Derrell (Darlene) Proctor of Covington, KY; Doug (Linda) Proctor of Mt. Vernon, KY; Louise (Johnny) Benge of Brodhead, KY; Paula Reed of Brodhead, KY; and Elizabeth (Jeff) Dodd of Walton, KY; one brother Arlos (Martha) Proctor of Ottawa, KY; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Stan Reed and a granddaughter Suzanne Graves. 

All services for Mr. Bobby Proctor will be at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead, KY.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 6-9 pm.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 1pm with Wayne Chappell officiating, burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. 

Casket bearers will be his grandsons:  Steve Proctor, Billy Ray Graves, Kyle Proctor, Mark Proctor, Jason Proctor, Adam Proctor, Tanner Allen, and Logan Dodd. Honorary casket bearers are Arlos Proctor, Jesse D Caudill, Johnny Benge, Jeff Dodd, Lions Club Members, and the Board of Directors of Citizen’s Bank in Brodhead.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, PO Box 161 Brodhead, KY 40409.
