Boyd Jackson Hasty

Mr. Boyd Jackson Hasty, age 91, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his residence.

Boyd was born May 28, 1929 in East Fork, KY to the late Ambrose and Nora (Sowder) Hasty.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, worked at the Bluegrass Army Depot, and was a farmer. He married Lucille Bradley on April 4, 1959 and from that union came three children:  Zandell, Dale, and Debbie.  They were married 52 years when she preceded him in death on January 25, 2012.  Boyd was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church, loved fishing for Crappie and hunting deer and turkey.

Those left to celebrate his life are his three children:  Bro. Zandell (Connie) Hasty of Mt. Vernon, KY, Dale (Donna) Hasty of Mt. Vernon, KY, Debbie (Doug Jr.) Brock of Copper Creek, KY; seven grandchildren:  Tanya (Tom) Chaney, Niki (Danny) Curry, Josh (Keysha) Hasty, Devin (Sarah) Hasty, Samantha (Derrick) Carpenter, Jadon (Cheyenne) Brock, Dakota (Kali) Hasty; twelve great-grandchildren:  Timothy Duncan, Madison Hasty, Parker Burdette, Andrew Chaney, Aiden Chaney, Brittany Carpenter, Tucker Hasty, Brody Hasty, Eden Hasty, Jaylan Brock, Austin Curry, Angel Curry; and one brother: Raymond (Ruth) Hasty; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hasty; brothers:  Clarence Hasty, Bill Hasty, Joe Hasty, Tully Hasty, infant – Charley Hasty; and sisters:  Bess McClure, Dolly Cameron, Eva Doan, and Lou Ella Hasty.

Services for Mr. Boyd Jackson Hasty will be Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time for the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Josh and Devin Hasty officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sowder Cemetery. Casket bearers are:  Tom Chaney, Danny Curry, Derrick Carpenter, Jadon Brock, Dakota Hasty, Tim Smith, and Lee Deatherage.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Boyd’s name.
