Mr. Byron Douglas Owens, age 75 of Brodhead, Kentucky passed away Saturday January 18, 2014 in Irvine, Kentucky.
Mr. Owens was born in Brodhead, Kentucky on January 4, 1939, a son of the late Millard and Verla O’Neal Owens. He was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed University of Kentucky sports, farming, the outdoors and his grandchildren. He was a United States Air Force veteran, having served as an Airman First Class. He was a retired railroad heavy equipment operator.
Mr. Owens is survived by his wife: Rozella Owens of Brodhead, Kentucky; Eight children: Rhonda Leigh Santo of Brodhead, Kentucky, Richard L. (Louise) Santo of McKee, Kentucky, Lisa (Greg) Angel of Beattyville, Kentucky, Sandra (Bruce) French of Orlando, Kentucky, Gary A. (Debbie) Santo of Brodhead, Kentucky, Jackie Santo of Mount Vernon, Kentucky, Chris Owens of Australia, Jeanetta Owens; Special family friends: Jeff Carr, Randy Harris, Amy Irvin; Sixteen grandchildren: Jeffrey Bond, Jr., Carlista (Jason) Bond, Byron (Samantha) Bond, Richard (Lori) Santo III, Nikki (Kevin) Navarre, Michael Douglas (Becca) Santo, Douglas Scott (Alli) French, James Donald French II, Cody Allen Santo, Kaitlynn Santo, Savanna Santo, Kera Santo, Kendall Santo, Heather Angel, Amanda (Randy) Fox, Samantha Angel; Seventeen great-grandchildren, Two brothers: Edward Denton (Cathy) Owens, Derrel Eugene Owens; A sister: Edna Wayne (Harold) Harper, and many nieces nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a brother: Millard Ray Owens.
Funeral services for Mr. Byron Douglas Owens will be conducted on Thursday January 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Wayne Harding officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Byron Douglas Owens will be held on Thursday January 23, 2014 from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
