Mr. Cletus Lee Gentry, age 93, of Mt. Vernon, KY passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
Cletus was born July 6, 1932, in Mt Vernon KY to the late Fred and Viola (Kinley) Gentry. He was a self-employed truck driver and farmer. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a musician – could play anything with strings and had a green thumb – could grow anything.
He married Ruby Jean Bradley on August 5, 1960, and they enjoyed 34 years together before she passed.
Those left to celebrate his life are his son: Timothy Lee Gentry of Mt. Vernon, KY; his daughter: Freda Renner (James) of Mt. Vernon, KY; and one stepson: Ralph Niceley of Mt. Vernon, KY, special friend: Aileen Croucher.
Besides his parents, Cletus was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Jean (Bradley) Gentry, one stepson Jerry Niceley; and eleven siblings: Lucille Gentry, Willie Gentry, Marie Gentry Pittman, Ada Gentry Pittman, Louella Gentry, Robert Gentry, Ed Gentry, Ben Gentry, Charles Gentry, Troy Gentry, and Roy Gentry.
Services for Cletus Lee Gentry will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Marvin E Owens Home for Funerals with Visitation beginning at noon until time for funeral service at 2:00pm with Bro. Peyton Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittman-Gentry Cemetery. Casket bearers are Jimmy Kirby, Larry Gentry, Steve Gentry and Darrell Gentry.
