Clorine (Whitaker) Graves

Ms. Lottie Clorine Graves, age 90 of Brodhead, KY passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at her residence.

Clorine was born April 1, 1931 in Chimney Rock, (Pulaski Co.) Kentucky to the late George Dewey and Rosa (Finley) Whitaker.  She was a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ in Sand Springs. She enjoyed her daily walk with God, her family, and her garden, which in her words was, “The closest place to Heaven”. She married Roy Smith Graves on December 29, 1951 and from the union came six children:  Billy, Patty, Jerry, Brenda, Steve, and Sandra.

Those left to celebrate her life are her children:  Billy Graves and wife Retta, Patty Nicely and husband Gary, Jerry Graves and wife Jackie, Brenda Lovell, Steve Graves and wife Vicky, Sandra Burke and husband Casey; fifteen grandchildren:  Juan Nicely, Jamie Nicely, Billy RayGraves II, Dallas Dillingham, Ashley Graves, Amanda Hutchinson, Jerry Graves II, Kristy Lovell New, Joshua Lovell, Jacob Lovell, Sydney Lovell, Aaron Graves, Garrett Payne, Samantha Payne, and Alexandra Burke; seventeen great-grandchildren:  Douglas Nicely, Dawson Nicely, Trey Graves, Scarlett Dillingham, Weston Dillingham, Tripp Nicely, Blakely Nicely, Ryan Hutchinson, Aiden Hutchinson, Wyatt Graves, Walker Graves, Wiley Graves, Silas New, Mila New, Kaydence Morgan, Hunter Payne, and Presley Payne; and one sister:  Faustine Wiles.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years:  Roy Graves; one granddaughter:  Suzanne Michelle Graves; three sisters:  Opal Vanlandingham, Dora Whitaker, Minnie Barnes; and two brothers:  Fred Whitaker and Charlie Whitaker.

Visitation for Clorine will be Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 1:00pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Burford Parkerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Clorine’s grandsons:  Juan, Jamie, Billy Ray II, Joshua, Jacob, Aaron, Garrett, and Jerry II.
