Clyde Dewayne Burdette

Mr. Clyde Dewayne Burdette, age 70 of Mt. Vernon, KY departed this life Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital.

He was born on July 6, 1953. a son of the late Arvel and Elsie Cornett Burdette.  He was a member of Brindle Ridge Baptist Church and found great joy in coon hunting, fishing, and raising farm animals.  Clyde had previously worked for the Rockcastle School System as a school bus driver.  He was an original founding member of the Brindle Ridge Fire Department.  On June 22, 1973, he was united in marriage to Betty Sowder, and from that union came two daughters: Cathy Sue and Tawnya Lynn.  

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of fifty years, Betty Burdette of Mt. Vernon, KY; his children: Cathy Sue Jarvis of Richmond, Ky; and Tawnya Lynn Bullock of Mt. Vernon, KY.  His grandchildren: Ryan Blake Bullock, Jacob Alexander Bullock, Jordan Nathaniel Sizemore, Matthew Hunter Sizemore, and Seth Christian Sizemore. His brother: James “Gary” Burdette (Linda) of Mt. Vernon, KY; His sister-in-law: Gail Burdette of Mt. Vernon, KY; his sister: Janice Jean Chasteen (Steve) of Richmond, KY. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Burdette.
