Corine (Hunt) Cummins

Esther Corine Hunt Cummins of Mt. Vernon, KY. passed away at home on July 17th surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was the youngest of eleven children, born and raised in Mt. Vernon.  Esther spent her life making a home for her family, serving her church family and creating beauty through her garden and entertaining those she held dear. She was known for her sense of humor, love of fishing, travel adventures and personal style. Esther was a devout Christian and student of the Bible. Her passion was for the Israeli people who are God’s chosen children.

Esther is survived by her husband Paul E. Cummins, Mt. Vernon. Her daughter Paula Cummins Frizzell (Keith), Lexington, KY. Three sons: Joseph E. Cummins (Joyce), Mt. Vernon, Mark A. Cummins, Mt. Vernon, Roy B. Cummins, Mt. Vernon. Three granddaughters: Melissa J. Fain (David), Mt. Vernon, KY, Stephanie Rader (Kevin), Mt. Vernon, KY and Jessica E. Cummins, Richmond, KY. Six great-grandsons: Noah J. Fain, Ethan J. Fain, Lincoln C. Rader, Ezekiel J. Fain, Calvin P. Rader and Henry J. Rader.

Also surviving is her sister, Bonnie Daisy Winston, Cincinnati, OH. Esther was blessed to have the love of many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Bishop Cummins. Her parents: John Edward Hunt and Sibyl Alberta Wiederhold Hunt. Also preceding Esther to Heaven were her brothers and sisters: Hazel Hunt Badertscher, Ollie B. Hunt, Dallas Woodrow Hunt, Nancy L. Hunt Livesay, Russell Edward Hunt, George Leo Hunt, Cecil Lew Hunt, Barbara L. Hunt Bartholomew, Alma Marguerite Hunt Poynter Robinson, Wayne Edward Hunt. 

The family would like to honor Esther’s youngest son, Roy B. Cummins who spent the last 5 years as a caregiver for their mother, attending to her health tenderly and diligently.

Special thanks to the physicians and nursing staff at Baptist Health Lexington, specifically the nurses on 6N, who became family and dear friends. Thank you to the nursing staff at Rockcastle Regional Hospital who were so compassionate and kind to Esther as she suffered. Hospice Care Plus provided direction, care and peace in her last days.

A celebration of Esther’s life will be held at Bible Baptist Church, 100 Higher Ground Lane, Mt. Vernon, KY on Tuesday, July 20 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm at Bible Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 21. Burial will follow in Maretburg Cemetery, Maretburg, KY

Pallbearers will be: Christopher Poynter, Garry Fain, Daniel Hunt, David Fain, Matthew Poynter and David Cummins. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ethan J. Fain, Noah J. Fain, Ezekiel J. Fain, Lincoln Rader, Calvin P. Rader, Henry J. Rader, Jeff Hunt, Hal Hunt, and Robbie Elmore.
