Dallas E. Kirby, age 72, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
Dallas was born on April 1, 1950, in Mt. Vernon, KY, a son of Mattie Christine (Denny) Kirby, and the late Sherman Earl Kirby. He attended the Church of God in Jesus Name and enjoyed fighting chickens and collecting Case knives.
Those left to celebrate his life are his mother: Mattie Christine (Denny) Kirby of Mt. Vernon, KY; his wife: Julie (Bowling) Kirby of Brodhead, KY; three children: Erica Carole Kirby-Davidson & Kenneth of Mt. Vernon, KY, Matthew Scott Kirby of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Dallas Edward Kirby of Brodhead, KY; two stepdaughters: Kendra Kendrick & Michael of Richmond, KY, Kieara Cromer of Mt. Vernon, KY; a grandson: Joseph Quinton Carter Kirby; step granddaughters: Rosalyn Thompson of Mt. Vernon, KY, Gemma Kendrick, of Richmond, KY; three brothers: Charles Monroe Kirby & Linda, George W. Kirby & Donna, and Clarance “Bearcat” Kirby, all of Mt. Vernon, KY; a sister: Barbara Jean Vance of Mt. Vernon, KY; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Gary, Billy, and Junie Kirby.
A visitation for Dallas will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 6pm to 9pm. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 2pm, with Bro. James Carpenter officiating. All services will be held at Church of God in Jesus Name on Chestnut Ridge. Burial will follow in the Kirby Family Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Willie Martin, Phillip Kirby, Mason Bowling, Johnny Michael Cromer, Billy Lovell, and Jonathan Norther. Honorary casket bearers will be Danny Vance and Johnny Kirby.
