Everett Lee Renner Obituary

Everett Lee “Smokey Joe” Renner, 79, of Mt. Vernon passed from this life on Friday, February 3 after a long battle with dementia. He was born March 6, 1943 in Rockcastle County to the late Earl Woodrow and Sarah Elizabeth “Lizzie” Kirby Renner.


Everett was a farmer, sawmill operator, and county road department employee for many years. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.


On February 15, 1964, he married the love of his life, Naomia Jeanette Cromer Renner, and from this union came three sons:  James Earl (Edna), Randy Lee (Melissa), and Eric Dale (Evelyn) all of Mt. Vernon. He leaves behind several grandchildren: Amanda Gail Osborne, Stephanie Rena Bush, Wendell Dustin Sizemore, Lara Christeen Renner, Lizabeth Fern Renner, Zackary Ryan Renner, Katie Madison Renner, Wesley Michael Sheene, and Mattilyn Kaye Renner.


He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife:  Naomia, his granddaughter: Crystal Janel Bush Stewart; three brothers:  Leslie Whitaker, Russell Renner, and Gerald Renner; and one sister:  Villa Whitaker Mayfield.


Visitation for Mr. Renner will be Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 6-9pm and Monday, February 6, 2023 from 11am until time for the funeral service at 12pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Marcus Reppert officiating. Burial will follow at Mink Cemetery.
