Mr. Franklin Delano “Del” Shumate, Jr. age 61, of Livingston, KY passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, KY.
Del was born May 8, 1960, in Chicago, IL to Franklin Delano Shumate, Sr. and the late Jean Carol Burke Shumate. He served in the United States Army from 1979-1982 and was an over the road truck driver for 32 years. He was of the Pentecostal faith, enjoyed his family, camping, fishing, Florida State Football, and UK Basketball.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife: Georgie (Smith) Shumate; ten children: David Vaughn and wife Stephanie of Harlan, KY, Franklin Shumate III of Evarts, KY, Sebrina Walker and husband Eric of Palm Bay, FL, Tabatha Shumate of Cawood, KY, Danielle Mohammed and Neil of Palm Bay, FL, Dora Shumate of London, KY, Matthew Casey Shumate and Devine Ahern of Melbourne, FL, Brittany Pierce and husband Austin of Casper, WY, Kyle Cash and wife Leanna of Livingston, KY, Nicholas Shumate of Livingston, KY; twenty-three grandchildren and one on the way; one great-grandchild; two brothers: Tim Shumate of Palm Bay, FL, Freamon “Peanut” Shumate of IN; two sisters: Regina Yvone Bray, Mellissa Ann Morgan of NC; and his father: Franklin Delano Shumate, Sr.
Del was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation for Franklin Delano Shumate, Jr. will be Monday, October 11, 2021, from 12pm until time for the funeral service at 2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Phillip Doan and Jason Medley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wynn-Gibbons Cemetery.
