Gary Grant Asher

Gary Grant Asher age 71 of Mt Vernon, KY passed from this worldly life into his eternal life in Heaven, after a long and courageous battle, on August 17th, 2024, in Lexington, KY. Gary was born December 29th, 1952, in Wallins Creek KY to Grant and Eula Mae Shoop Asher.

He is survived by his brother Bradley Dearl Asher (Judy) of Midway Ky, his daughters; Brittany Asher (James Hayes) and Jessica Asher Carpenter (Junior) of Mt Vernon, KY. Grandchildren; Gavin Hayes, Willow and Eleanor Carpenter. Companion of 22 years Renee Miller and children Stephen Robinson and Meredith Gross (Brandon), Mother of his children Sherry Taylor Asher, plus Nieces, Nephews and many friends. He is also proceeded in death by Father and Mother-in-law E.J. and Roberta Taylor and Brother-in-law Larry Taylor.

He was a dedicated employee of Rockcastle Regional Hospital for 47 years. Rockcastle Emergency Manager for 30 years and former Firefighter and E.M.T. He was a KY Colonel and a Freemason. He enjoyed working on the farm (Bear Waller), the outdoors, John Deere tractors and spoiling his children and three grandchildren.

Casket bearers: Junior Carpenter, Bart Asher, James Hayes, Buddy Semones, Stephen Robinson, and Brandon Gross. Horary: Gavin Hayes, Willow Carpenter, and Eleanor Carpenter.

Services for Mr. Asher will be Friday August 23, 2024, with visitation starting at 12 till time of the funeral at 2 PM. Brother Josh Hasty officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
